Williamson Medical Center (WMC) joins the county and nation in celebrating Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week. WMC was recently presented a proclamation from Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson designating May 15-21 as EMS Week in Williamson County. The proclamation recognizes the life-saving care provided by EMS professionals and the dedication of these individuals who invest in hours of specialized training and continued education to further enhance their life-saving skills. Williamson Medical Center EMS assistant director Mark King was on hand to receive the proclamation.

“Emergency medical services are a vital service for our community,” said Anderson. “The Williamson Medical Center EMS team provides a number of unique services making them one of the best in the state, and we are fortunate to have this team of professionals providing emergency services and life-saving care throughout Williamson County.”

In celebration of EMS, special lunches have been provided to all EMS personnel this week. The county proclamation preceded a national proclamation from President Joe Biden designating May 15-21 as National EMS Week, honoring the work of the nation’s EMS providers.

WMC EMS has answered the community’s calls for lifesaving care since 1972, and these heroic first responders are being celebrated for their service throughout 2022. Last weekend, team members proudly carried their 50th anniversary banner during the Franklin Rodeo parade as their newest, highly advanced ambulance followed close behind.

WMC EMS has a long-standing partnership with the county and each of the city and county public safety departments for the benefit of delivering a comprehensive EMS System to all residents and visitors of Williamson County. As the county’s primary 911 emergency medical provider, WMC EMS employs more than 150 AEMTs, paramedics, critical care paramedics and support personnel to deploy 17 advanced life support ambulances. WMC EMS has been providing emergency medical services and related aid through a comprehensive county EMS systems approach since 1972. The system is the first and only 911 ground EMS provider in Tennessee and one of seven systems across the country authorized to carry and administer pre-hospital blood products. Williamson Medical Center EMS is a four-time recipient of the annual “Star of Life” award for Tennessee EMS Region Five, is a multi-year recipient of the American Heart Association: Mission Lifeline recognition and was named the Tennessee Ambulance Service Association 2020 ALS (Advanced Life Support) Service of the Year. WMC EMS also supports the county’s emergency preparedness efforts, providing the coordination of Ambulance Strike Teams from TN EMS Region Five and provides EMS services within the community for schools and events such as the Franklin Rodeo.
