Sanford J. Kim, M.D., is a board-certified primary care provider with Williamson Health Medical Group’s new Spring Hill location at Port Royal Road. He has been practicing medicine in Middle Tennessee for over 20 years.

Dr. Kim grew up in Spartanburg, SC. He went to college at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and was later commissioned as an Engineer Officer in the United States Army in 1992. He served with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, KY, in the roles of Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Brigade Engineer. During his time with the Army, he received the Air Assault Badge, the Army Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Qualification Badge.

Following his service in the military, Dr. Kim attended medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, graduating in 1999. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2002. He served as a primary care provider from 2002-06 in Nashville before transitioning to Hospital Medicine in order to spend more time with his family. During those years, he worked at Williamson Medical Center, St. Thomas West and Centennial Medical Center. Throughout his time at Williamson Medical Center, he says he appreciated the importance of a community-based approach to healthcare and is eager to get back to helping take care of his friends and neighbors. Said Dr. Kim: “Now that my two boys are grown, I’m excited to be getting back into primary care. This has always been my calling.”

Dr. Kim has lived in Williamson County since 2006. He currently resides in Thompson’s Station and is the father of two adult sons. When away from the clinic, he enjoys hiking, camping, gardening and attending church.
