Bio
Matt Anderson, M.D., was born and raised in San Diego, California as the second eldest of seven children. He attended Francis Parker for high school before heading east to Duke University for college. At Duke, Matt played varsity football and lacrosse, winning the NCAA national championship in lacrosse and the Elite 90 Award during his senior year. Matt graduated from Duke University Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biological Anthropology and Anatomy.
Dr. Anderson attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and graduated with AOA Honors and Distinction in Research. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center where he developed a passion for sports medicine while assisting with the New York Yankees, providing physician team coverage for Columbia University, Manhattan College, and several local high schools, and serving on the AOSSM Team Physician and Athlete Advocacy Committee. Dr. Anderson also produced numerous journal articles and book chapters related to ACL reconstruction, UCL reconstruction (Tommy John surgery), shoulder instability, and shoulder replacement. Dr. Anderson completed a fellowship in sports medicine at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, CO where he served as team physician for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), U.S. Ski & Snowboard, and Battle Mountain High School. He also conducted research related to complex meniscus tears and shoulder instability.
Dr. Anderson currently serves as a team physician for the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys surfing, snowboarding, skiing, and golfing. He and his wife, Jillian, have two children and live in Brentwood.
