Williamson Health, Blood Assurance Extend Partnership Through 2024
Published: December 18, 2023
Williamson Medical Center and Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee will extend their partnership with Blood Assurance, the sole provider of blood products for Williamson Health, to host monthly blood drives through 2024. The successful partnership provides opportunities for the community to donate blood and bolster healthcare resources for Williamson County.
“We are so grateful for our continued partnership with Williamson Medical Center and Bone and Joint Institute,” said Max Winitz, media relations coordinator for Blood Assurance. “These drives make a real impact in the community and help save lives.”
In addition to the monthly blood drives in 2024, Williamson Medical Center will host quarterly blood drives inside the hospital to increase opportunity for participation. These drives will be held in the Willoughby Rooms located inside Williamson Medical Center on the flagship campus.
The last blood drive of 2023 will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2023, from 12 – 5 p.m. Donors are encouraged to sign up here via the Blood Assurance website for an appointment time, though walk-ins are welcome. Each donor will receive a free pair of Ugly Sweater socks while supplies last.
“This is the season of giving, and there’s no greater gift than the gift of life,” said Winitz. “This upcoming blood drive is an opportunity to make a significant difference in someone’s life over the holidays. Taking an hour out of your day can really go a long way.”
The December blood drive will be held in the Blood Assurance mobile unit in the Bone and Joint Institute parking lot, 3000 Edward Curd Lane in Franklin. Williamson Medical Center and Bone and Joint Institute are both part of Williamson Health, a regional healthcare system with more than 30 locations throughout Williamson County.
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids — avoiding caffeine — and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating.
