The Cardiac/Telemetry unit features 32 beds with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio. The unit primarily serves adult patients with cardiac histories, including heart arrhythmias, cardiovascular disease, unstable angina and respiratory issues. Most patients require telemetry monitoring; we use a portable monitor to allow patients to move freely during their stay.
We also provide recovery for post-heart catheterization patients. Our cardiologists use both radial and femoral approaches, and many of our patients also require cardioversion procedures or pacemaker insertions. As a designated chest pain center, we provide observation and stress testing for our patients.
Our staff is ACLS-certified and trained to interpret cardiac rhythms. Nurses have access to advanced training in cardiac care, professional development, and opportunities to learn new skills as medical technology evolves. We offer a supportive, family-oriented environment where the team is trained in sotalol loading, cardiac IV drip medications, EKGs and post-catheterization care. Our department serves as an excellent training ground for those looking to eventually transfer to the CCU for long-term career growth.
The Emergency Department currently has 43 beds with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for adults aged 18 and older. We treat life-threatening illnesses, and both major and minor surgical emergencies in a fast-paced environment that emphasizes teamwork, autonomy and critical thinking. Staff have access to the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), emergency and pediatric courses, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention program and triage training.
Our 20-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio and treats a wide variety of patients focusing on the adult population. We have high standards of care, flexible shifts, dedicated teammates, education and growth opportunities in a collaborative and supportive environment. The ICU at Williamson Health integrates education and evidence-based medicine to provide specialized, multidisciplinary care. Our patients require in-depth monitoring and support in a critical care setting including multi-system patients, respiratory compromised patients, acute myocardial infarction and complex post-operative patients. In addition, the ICU provides support and monitoring to patients with post-cardiac catheterization and vascular lab procedures. We are constantly expanding the services we provide which enables our staff to continue expanding their knowledge base.
The Oncology department has 9 beds and a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio. We care for patients who have a history of cancer, or a current cancer diagnosis. We also care for patients who have undergone breast surgeries, outpatient procedures such as blood transfusions and biopsies, failure to thrive, pain and other chemotherapy related issues.
As the smallest inpatient department at Williamson Medical Center, our close-knit nursing team relies on teamwork to provide exceptional care. Our nurses focus on encouraging patients and providing them with care and knowledge as they navigate the difficult effects of cancer We administer chemotherapy and provide assistance with various outpatient procedures. We celebrate survivorship with our patients and learn what it means to live with cancer on a personal level.
Additionally, our top-notch palliative care group spends time getting to know patients and families, helping them make informed decisions about their care.
We are a 36-bed, Joint Commission-certified orthopaedic unit dedicated to providing exceptional care for adult patients ranging from 18 to 100 years old. Our team specializes in the postoperative care of orthopaedic patients and is committed to helping individuals recover, regain mobility, and return to the activities they love.
With a 1:6 nursing ratio, nurses are supported by nurse technicians who assist with ambulation and activities of daily living. This allows the care team to focus on safe recovery and high-quality patient care. Working on this unit provides the opportunity to build extensive orthopaedic expertise while developing exceptional time management and clinical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Our surgeons utilize some of the most advanced orthopaedic technology available, including Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery and MakoSmart Robotics, ensuring patients receive cutting-edge surgical care. As part of the care team, you will work with patients recovering from total joint replacements, arthroscopic procedures, spinal fusions, and post-surgical trauma.
This unit offers a unique opportunity to make a long-term impact in a short amount of time. Many of our patients arrive experiencing severe pain and limited mobility; and through skilled care, education, and support, our team helps them regain independence and improve their quality of life.
At Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center, we offer a premier professional environment where evidence-based clinical practice meets compassionate, community-focused care. Located in the beautiful Boyer-Bryan West Tower of Williamson Medical Center, our team evaluates and treats a diverse range of pediatric patients from birth to 18 years of age. We distinguish ourselves through a supportive culture that prioritizes both the patient and family experience and the well-being of our staff, featuring low nurse-to-patient ratios in both our pediatric emergency department and inpatient unit.
Our nurses work in close collaboration with a dedicated provider team and benefit from the extensive resources of a specialized Pediatric Nursing Educator. Our Perinatal Department is a Women’s Choice Award Winner! We have 16 labor rooms, 1 triage room, 17 post-partum rooms and a 9-bed NICU. We care for women and their family support and significant others. Our newborns are usually greater than 32 weeks and come from Williamson and surrounding counties. We have a low nurse-to-patient ratio for laboring patients that allows our staff to focus their attention on their patients. Our staff is kind, caring and knowledgeable, providing the most up to date care based on evidence-based practice with family-based care. You will have the opportunity to cross-train into other areas within the unit including labor & delivery, nursery, mother/baby, NICU and surgical assisting for labor nurses with C-sections. We work hard to ensure that employees can develop a schedule that provides a great work/life balance for all staff. The physician groups who deliver at Williamson Medical Center are some of the best in the state and work closely with our staff, developing professional relationships that add to our family-friendly environment.
The Surgery Department is a 22-bed unit with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. The majority of our patients come to Williamson Medical Center to have orthopaedic, vascular, urology, gynecology, plastic, spine, robotic and general surgery. Our world-renowned surgeons are trained to use the DaVinci Robot and the Mako Robot. We also have a vascular hybrid operating room for patients needing those services. We have a collaborative environment focusing on teamwork, excellent care and outcomes. We provide a very thorough orientation with skilled preceptors who will teach you everything you need to be successful. Our staff and surgeons are compassionate and dedicated to low infection rates and successful procedures. You will have a variety of shifts to choose from, minimal call shifts and excellent benefits. We have a designated call team during the week and weekends.
